Sterling V Silencer Disassembly & Reassembly
Disassembly
Remove bolt and ejector
Remove fore grip
Remove 3 nuts on silencer end cap.
Remove silencer end cap. If end cap won’t come off, then you will probably need to remove the extension tube. The front site will need to be removed before the extension tube can be removed.
Remove the silencer casing. You may need to remove the 2 small indexing bolts if you have to twist the silencer casing while removing it.
Remove spiral diffuser assembly.
Unscrew the 3 tie rods from the barrel support plate assembly (the brass plate holding the barrel in place).
Unscrew the barrel nut.
Remove barrel support plate.
Remove barrel back through the receiver.
Remove Diffuser tube and wire mesh.
Assembly
Place barrel- through receiver.
Place diffusor over barrel.
Place wire mesh- use tapered wooden dowel.I used ASC stainless steel mesh 304,#20 .016 wire, clothe, screen,women wire as replacement.
Replace barrel support plate and barrel nut. Place indexing screw on barrel support plate after placing barrel nut.
Screw 3 tie rods into barrel support plate- put it on really tight.
Place diffusor over 3 tie rods.
Place forearm on silencer casing.
Replace silencer casing.
Place indexing screw on base of silencer casing near receiver.
Replace extension tube and front site if it has been removed.
Replace indexing screw at end of silencer casing.
Put end cap on silencer casing.
Place alignment tool in end cap.
Tighten the 3 end cap nuts to tie rods- not too tight! 12 lbs?
Replace ejector.
Check forearm for proper position with stock swung forward and adjust if needed.
